WORKER CENTER
Seeks to provide a safe and welcoming venue for men and women seeking work and skill development for better economic opportunities.
At the worker center we:
Find a match for employers' needs.
Follow up with those who hire workers at HRC and use employers' feedback to continue to strengthen the skills of our members.
OSHA Accreditation programs.
Assist in resume preparation.
Facilitate employer/worker negotiation to ensure that all parties are clear on agreement.
Recover unpaid wages for workers.
Workers are available for temporary or permanent positions in construction, painting, landscaping, small repair jobs, housekeeping, babysitting or cooking, among others.
HOW TO HIRE A WORKER
TELL THE EMPLOYER COORDINATOR YOUR NEEDS:
• How many workers?
• What kind of work?
• How long (one day, several days, temporary or permanent)?
• Any particular skills needed for the job?
• The employer coordinator will communicate with the workers so that the appropriate
--worker meets with you about the job.
• Worker and employer negotiate contract directly. You can ask for a different worker if --not satisfied.
• Interpretation provided if needed.
• Feedback appreciated for educational purposes and to bring our services to the best
--possible standards.
WE RECOMMEND:
• That you provide lunch if it is a full day job.
• Please treat the worker fairly and pay promptly.
• If you would like to ask for a specific worker, state the worker’s name to the employer --coordinator.
• That you use the entrance along Van Ranst Ave. with is directly across from Columbus --Park. Parking is available in the back.
